Terms & Policies

Food Bank City is committed to fair, transparent service for everyone. Below are the platform-wide policies that all member food banks uphold. Individual food banks may maintain additional policies specific to their organization.

Nondiscrimination Policy

It is the policy of Food Bank City and its member food banks that persons shall not be discriminated against (in employment or service) because of race, creed, color, national origin, sex, honorably discharged veteran or military status, sexual orientation, or the presence of any sensory, mental, or physical disability or the use of a trained dog guide or service animal by a person with a disability is recognized as and declared to be a civil right.

Jurisdiction

There are no jurisdictional guidelines — you can shop at any Foodbank on our platform no matter what city you live in.

Liability

Our member food banks do their best to carefully check all donated food for quality and date labeling before it reaches you. Because much of the food is donated, we also encourage you to take a quick look at your items when you receive them to be sure they meet your needs. If you happen to receive something that is past its labeled date, please feel free to discard it and let your food bank know — they appreciate your help in keeping the program safe and responsive for everyone. In accordance with the Bill Emerson Good Samaritan Food Donation Act, member food banks are not liable for food distributed beyond labeled dates as part of order fulfillment.

Resale

Food Bank City member organizations provide food and essential supplies to support individuals and families across communities. All items distributed are intended for personal or household use only and may not be resold. We appreciate your cooperation in helping ensure these resources remain available to those who need them most.

Order Substitution

Because there may be a short time between when your order is placed and when it is packed, some requested items may become unavailable. When this happens, the food bank team will reach out by phone, text, or email to offer substitution options and ask for your preference. Thank you for your flexibility as we work to serve our community with care and fairness.
